Custom websites

Websites that win trust.

I build custom websites for Kootenay businesses, and for owners anywhere, who need more than a pretty homepage: a sharper presence, clearer sales paths, real function, and room to grow.

The free 60-second check-up is an automated scan of your speed, SEO, security headers, and best practices. Or see prices and packages

Why this matters

A better website changes whether customers trust you enough to act.

Good customers check you out before they call, book, or buy. I build for Kootenay businesses from Castlegar to Nelson, and I see the same two leaks everywhere. A page that does not point anywhere loses the sale, even when it looks nice. And some operations need more than pages: the site has to handle bookings, members, and payments too.

54%

go to your website after reading your reviews

Good reviews do not close anyone. They send people to your site to decide. Whatever they find there is what actually answers the question, which is why the reviews and the website are one job, not two.

BrightLocal Local Consumer Review Survey 2026, n=1,002

46.1%

of what people said about credibility was about how it looked

Stanford had 2,684 people judge live websites and wrote down every reason they gave. How the site looked came up more than accuracy, more than reputation, more than anything else. People decide whether to trust you before they finish reading. The study is from 2002 and the finding has not aged a day.

Fogg et al., Stanford Web Credibility, 2002

0.6%

more revenue for every 100ms of speed

Microsoft deliberately slowed its own search engine for two weeks to measure what waiting costs. Randomised, enormous sample, peer reviewed. Most speed statistics you will read are folklore; this is the one that survives scrutiny, and it is why speed gets built in rather than bolted on afterward.

Kohavi et al., KDD 2013
The KMD website standard

Look premium, sell clearly, and support the way the business actually works.

For a small business that might mean three polished pages. For a larger organization it can mean seven or more pages plus deeper function. Every build carries the same standard.

  • Premium visual design that feels modern, local, and trustworthy
  • Custom code, not a fragile drag-and-drop theme
  • Copywriting included, so every page explains, proves, and points to action
  • Clear paths to calls, bookings, quotes, or purchases
  • Local SEO, analytics, performance, and Google basics handled
  • A launch film cut from your finished site, free, ready to post the day you go live
  • You own the code, the content, and the domain from day one

Bigger operations need the system behind the page: databases, portals, dashboards, and bookings. That build is The Empire. See how The Empire works

The Trailhead

$2,000

The credible front door.

or Own It Monthly from $189/mo

Get found by name, and in your town.

For the business that has been running on word of mouth and a Facebook page. Someone hears about you at the lake, the rink, or the job site, searches your name or your trade plus your town, and finds a site that makes them think "these people are the real thing" in about four seconds. If your work comes by referral, this is the whole answer: the site closes the customers already looking for you. Legal pages, contact forms, and Google setup are included, not counted against you.

  • 3 custom page designs, built around what you actually sell
  • A live preview link in week one, so you watch the build happen
  • Findable on Google and in AI answers from day one
  • I write the words, you approve them
  • Perfect on a phone, which is where nearly everyone looks first
  • One obvious way to contact you, plus card payments if you sell
  • Your files in your own GitHub account, hosting free on Vercel
  • A launch film cut from the finished site, free

Full Coverage

$1,200

Trailhead add-on

Every town you serve. Every question they ask.

The Trailhead closes the people already looking for you. Full Coverage brings you the strangers. Google shows a searcher the pages that exist, so a dedicated page for every community you serve puts you in the running everywhere you work: a search from Trail lands on your Trail page, a search from Nelson lands on your Nelson page. On top of that, 20 purpose-built guides answer the questions customers type before they ever contact anyone, and those same guides are what AI assistants read when someone asks who to call.

Roughly ten times the searchable surface of the site alone, every page targeting a real search, all of it working around the clock after launch. Most local business sites in this region have nothing like it. I map the towns and the questions with you, so the coverage follows where your work actually comes from.

Bundle it at purchase

Trailhead plus Full Coverage is $3,200 full price, or on Own It Monthly: 12 payments of $299, $3,588 all in, yours outright at payment 12.

Add it anytime after launch at the same $1,200, paid directly. Already in the Engine, included.

The Empire

Flagship

from $10,000

Scope determines final investment.

Everything in the Engine, and then the part that runs the business. Bookings, memberships, events, payments, portals, and accounts in one system you own.

What it runs

The part a website cannot do.

  • Bookings, memberships, events, and product funnels
  • Member accounts, secure logins, and role-based access
  • Payments, deposits, and paid flows through Stripe
  • An admin area where you edit bookings, events, listings and pages yourself
  • Your existing CRM or booking system connected, where the software allows it

What it grows

Working while you are on a job site.

  • Up to 50 SEO pages and guides, aimed at real ranking goals
  • Automated email, documents, and data-driven pages
  • Calculators, finders, and tools your customers come back for
  • Bilingual architecture when you serve more than one market

What comes with it

Included, never quoted later.

  • Competitor audit and a full digital strategy first
  • A complete brand identity system
  • Built to replace the monthly stack you are paying for now
  • Lifetime Neighbours Lodge access and direct support

The Empire is not on the Own It Monthly plan. Builds this size bill by milestone, so you pay as agreed stages go live. A custom CRM or internal tool is a separate build, quoted as a web app.

Real work

Real builds, real owners.

Summit Handyman, a trades platform in Langley BC, and Family Designs & Creations, a maker site in Castlegar, are real client builds on this exact standard.

To see the Trailhead scope itself, open Harkness Auto & Tire, an auto shop built to exactly three primary pages, or Mica Hair Studio, a salon built to the same three-page limit around a colour tool. Both carry a visible concept build label, because they are demonstrations rather than clients, and they are deliberately nothing alike: the same entry scope should not produce the same website twice.

Brett from Kootenay Made Digital built my website for my business. He was very friendly and professional, really took my website to a high level. It's easy for customers to navigate and makes my life a lot easier with all their information on the request an estimate feature. Any minor issues he has been very receptive and promptly fixed! I highly recommend getting your business site built by Kootenay Made Digital!
Brody, sole proprietor of Summit Handyman, Langley BC. Recommends on Facebook.
Highly Recommend Brett, He goes out of his way to make thing's perfect and with such creativity. Very quick and very reliable.
Kim, owner of Family Designs & Creations, Castlegar BC. Five stars on Google.

Larch Hollow, City of Silvermere, and Vale Realty are concept builds. They show the standard, and they always carry that label. See the full portfolio

Path to launch

Simple enough to follow. Serious enough to work.

  1. 01

    I map it

We talk about your business, your customers, and the next step each visitor should take.

  2. 02

    I write it

Copy comes first. Every page gets words that explain, prove, and point to action.

  3. 03

    I build it

Custom design and code around that copy. You review real pages, not mockups.

  4. 04

I launch it and stay close

I launch with analytics and Google basics set up. After launch, ongoing support is there if you want it.

The full path, payment terms and all, lives on the process page.

Who I build for

I build for the work you actually do.

Every industry gets its own page: what the site needs to do, what fits, and where to start.

Website questions

What serious owners ask before they build.

Can I pay for my website monthly instead of all at once?+

Yes. The Trailhead and Engine can go on Own It Monthly, a 12-month payment plan where you own the site outright at payment 12. The Trailhead is $2,000 once, or 12 payments of $189, which is $2,268 all in. Bundled with Full Coverage at purchase it is $3,200 once, or 12 payments of $299, which is $3,588 all in. The plan runs directly between you and me, with no credit checks, both totals always on the table, and your domain in your name from day one.

What is the Full Coverage add-on?+

A $1,200 Trailhead add-on that grows your search footprint: a dedicated page for every community you genuinely serve, plus 20 guides answering the questions customers type before they hire. Google can only show pages that exist, so a page for each of your towns puts you in the running everywhere you work. Add it when you buy the site and the bundle rides Own It Monthly at $299 a month; add it anytime after launch at the same $1,200, paid directly. The Engine includes it.

Is this only for small businesses?+

No. Trailhead and Engine fit owner-led local businesses. Empire is for larger organizations: tourism operators, venues, memberships, events, portals, payments, bookings, or any website that has become business infrastructure.

How does a website actually improve conversion?+

By making the first impression stronger, explaining the offer clearly, showing proof, reducing hesitation, and giving visitors a next step that fits the business: call, book, request a quote, buy, apply, join, or inquire.

Do you patch my existing website?+

No. I only do fresh builds. Patching old templates and plugin stacks caps how good the result can be. A fresh build gives me full control of speed, structure, and design, so the site can be yours instead of another reskinned theme.

What do I actually need to provide?+

Your time for one or two conversations, any photos or assets you have, and approval at each step. I handle the writing, design, build, SEO setup, and launch.

Start here

See where your site stands before you spend a dollar.

The free 60-second website check-up is an automated scan of your speed, SEO, security headers, and best practices. It gives you an honest picture of what is working and what is not.

Every build also ships with a launch film: a short video cut from your finished site, ready to post the day you go live. It is included, and it is yours. If you later want a proper ad campaign built around your business, that is a separate thing at $1,200 flat.

If you do not have a website at all, you are in ordinary company: about three in ten Canadian businesses with under five staff still do not. CFIB, September 2025, n=2,478. There is nothing to audit yet, so we start with a conversation instead.

Refer a neighbour who signs, and I e-transfer you $200. Anyone can refer, there is no limit, and it pays out when their first payment clears (second payment for Own It Monthly projects).
