The Brain
Teach your AI how your business works.
The Brain is an AI knowledge base for your business. I write down your prices, your process and how you talk to customers, so the AI you already use answers the way you would. It costs $1,800 with the Market Map, or $1,200 without it. It lives on your own computer and typically takes two to three weeks.
Right now, you are the only one who knows the answers.
- You answer the same questions every week, a little differently each time.
- AI writes about somebody else's business, so you rewrite everything it gives you.
- When someone needs a price or a policy, it waits until you are free.
The Brain moves what is in your head onto the page, once, where your AI and your staff can use it.
What you get
Your business, written down. Prices, services, how the work gets done, your policies, the answers to the questions customers really ask, and the way you talk.
The Market Map. What the businesses around you offer and charge where they publish it, and the words your customers search with.
Files you own. Plain text on your own computer, opened in Obsidian, a free notes app.
Connected and tested. Set up in the AI tool you already use, then tested on the ten questions customers ask you most.

How an AI knowledge base for your business gets built
Three steps, and most of the work is mine.

You drop the files you already have into a shared folder.

We talk on the phone. You tell me how the business runs, and I ask the questions that get it out of your head.

I write it all. On one handover call you download a folder, install one free app, and watch your AI answer your ten most-asked questions.
Typically two to three weeks from our call for a solo or small business, three to four for a team.
Your information stays yours
I never log in to your systems. You choose what goes in the folder.
The call recording is yours, and I delete my copies within 30 days of handover.
The Brain lives on your computer, not mine.
The AI I use to build it is set not to learn from your information.
The price
- The Brain: $1,800, with the Market Map. $1,400 if I built your site.
- Without the Market Map: $1,200, or $800 if I built your site. You can add the Market Map later for the difference.
- Teams: from $4,000, with the Market Map.
A one-time build, not a subscription. The price is confirmed on a short call before any work starts.
What owners ask first
- Do I have to pay every month?
- No. It is a build. Your AI tool has its own bill, which you already pay. If you want me to keep the Brain current as the business changes, that rides an ongoing support plan.
- What do I actually have to do?
- Drop your files in a folder, talk to me on the phone, and join one handover call. If you can install an app and download a file, you can do this.
- How is this different from uploading my files to the AI?
- Uploading hands one tool a pile of documents and hopes it finds the right part. The Brain is written so the answer is easy to find: one price book, one answer bank, one set of rules. When you change AI tools, the Brain comes with you.
- Which AI tools does it work with?
- Any tool that can read a file, because it is plain text. On the handover call I connect it to the one you use.
- Is my information safe?
- I never log in to your systems, and anything too personal you can leave out. The recording is yours, and my copies are deleted within 30 days of handover.
- Do I need this if it is just me?
- Often, yes. A team needs it so everyone gives the same answer. A one-person business needs it so AI stops giving generic advice and starts being useful about your actual work.
- Can I train ChatGPT on my own business?
- Not in the sense most people mean, because chatting with it does not teach the model your business for good. You can give it your own information to read every time it answers, through project files and custom instructions, and OpenAI, Anthropic and Google all document a version of this. Researchers who compared the approaches found that giving a model material to read beat fine tuning by a large margin on the least popular facts. A local business's prices are that kind of fact.
- Is a custom GPT or Claude Project enough?
- For holding the information, often yes, because a Project is only the slot and the answers depend on what you put in it. ChatGPT Projects and Claude Projects both keep your uploaded files and instructions as background for the chats inside them. Uploading a pile of documents leaves the tool to find the right part. A written price book, answer bank and rule set makes the answer easy to find. Keep the master copy in your own folder, so changing tools is an upload.
- Why does The Brain use Obsidian?
- Because Obsidian works on a folder of plain markdown files, so your knowledge opens in any editor on any computer, whatever happens to the app. On top of that folder it adds search, links between pages and a map of how the pieces connect. The app is free, including for business use, and its optional commercial licence is $50 US per user per year. A vault is only a folder of text files, so leaving Obsidian costs nothing, and any AI tool that reads files can read it.
