How much does Wix cost in Canada in 2026?

Wix pricing in Canada covers one free plan and four paid ones. On yearly billing they run CA$21, CA$33, CA$44, and CA$165 per month, with tax on top. The free plan costs nothing and keeps a Wix address. Everything past the plan price, apps, payments, the domain, and email, is billed separately.

Every figure below came off the Wix pricing page on August 11, 2026, loaded from a Canadian connection so the prices came back in Canadian dollars. Wix sets these prices and changes them, so treat this page as a snapshot with its date attached rather than a permanent number.

Read the table for the line that catches most small businesses: Light cannot sell anything. If you want to take a booking deposit or sell one product, the real entry price is Core at CA$33 a month, not CA$21. Wix also prints its own disclaimer under those prices, and it is worth repeating: the displayed prices are for yearly subscriptions paid in full at the time of purchase, and taxes are added based on your billing address.

The plan price is the part everyone compares. It is rarely the part that decides the bill.

What does the Wix free plan actually give you?

A real, working website on a Wix address, with Wix branding on it and no ability to take money. You get hosting, the drag and drop editor, and the full template library. What you do not get is your own domain name, a clean look without Wix on it, or a store.

• Your address stays a Wix address, in the username.wixsite.com/sitename shape. A custom domain needs a paid plan.
• Wix branding stays on the site. Removing it is one of the things a paid plan buys.
• No payments and no online store, so a free site can show your business but cannot take money.
• You get hosting, the drag and drop editor, and the template library, which is enough to test an idea.
• Nothing about the free plan is a trick. It is a demo of the platform, and it works fine as one.

I am not down on the free plan. It is an honest demo, and for testing whether an idea has legs before spending anything, it is the right tool. The moment a customer needs to find you at your own name, or pay you, the free plan has done its job and a paid plan starts.

Is Wix cheaper monthly or yearly?

Yearly is cheaper per month, which is exactly why the prices on the Wix pricing page are the yearly ones. Wix bills a yearly plan in full at purchase, not in twelve pieces. Monthly billing exists and costs more per month, and it also loses the free domain: Wix says the voucher is not offered on monthly plans.

So the yearly discount is real, and it comes with a real trade. Paying yearly means one larger charge up front and a full year committed, minus the 14 day refund window Wix offers on a first upgrade. Paying monthly means a smaller charge, a higher effective rate, and no free domain year.

Wix does not publish its monthly rates on the public pricing page. The exact monthly figure per plan appears at checkout, before you pay. If you are pricing this out, open that screen and write the monthly number down beside the yearly one before you choose, because the gap between the two is the price of flexibility.

Does the Wix price go up when it renews?

It can, and Wix says so in its own billing article: any paid service purchased during a sale renews at the standard rate. So if you signed up during a promotion, year two is the regular price. The free first-year domain also ends, which adds a second line to the same bill.

Plans renew on their own

Every plan renews automatically. A yearly plan is charged in full up to three weeks before it expires. A monthly plan is charged on the expiry date with no email warning first.

Sale prices do not last

Anything bought at a discount renews at the standard rate. Compare the standard price, not the promo price, when you are working out what a Wix site costs you long term.

Extras renew separately

The domain and the business email are their own subscriptions on their own dates, charged 30 days before they expire. That is why the bill can arrive in pieces.

What do Wix apps add to the bill?

Apps from the Wix App Market are separate subscriptions with their own renewal dates, sitting on top of the plan price. Many list a free tier, and the useful versions of bookings, reviews, email marketing, popups, and advanced forms are usually paid. This is the line item that quietly doubles a small site’s monthly cost.

Wix does not publish app prices in one place, and each app developer sets its own, so there is no honest single figure to print here. The reliable way to price this is to open the App Market, list the apps your site actually needs, and add their prices to the plan before you compare anything.

Wix confirms the structural part in its billing article: third-party apps are separate subscriptions charged on their own expiry date, and Wix may bundle several of those charges into one payment. That bundling is convenient, and it is also why owners often cannot say what they pay per month without digging out an invoice.

What does Wix charge to take a payment in Canada?

Through Wix Payments in Canada: 2.9% of the sale plus CA$0.30 for cards other than American Express, 3.5% plus CA$0.30 for American Express, 2.7% for in-person sales, and CA$0.15 per Interac transaction. Selling across a border or in another currency adds more on top.

These rates are normal for the industry, and the useful thing is not outrage, it is arithmetic. A shop doing CA$4,000 a month in card sales pays roughly CA$116 in percentage fees, plus CA$0.30 on every individual sale, on top of a CA$44 plan. That is the real monthly number, and it is well over double the sticker.

Worth separating two different things here, because they get confused. What Wix charges you is a cost of doing business. What you charge your customers is regulated: passing a mandatory fee along at checkout, after advertising a lower price, is the pattern Canadian law calls drip pricing, and it has been treated as a misleading representation since 2022. What do a domain and a business email cost on Wix?

Both are separate subscriptions, not parts of the plan. Most yearly plans include a domain free for the first year, and only the first year, on a new domain bought from Wix. Business email is a Google Workspace plan bought per mailbox, priced on its own.

Wix is specific about the free domain, and the details matter: the voucher comes with most yearly or multi-year plans, applies to a first purchase and not to a renewal or an upgrade, must be used within 60 days, works only on a new domain bought from Wix, and does not cover domain privacy or extra registration years.

Wix does not show domain registration and renewal prices, or the per-mailbox email price, without starting a purchase, so I will not print a number I could not fetch. Get both figures from the checkout screen before you commit, because these are the two costs that surprise people in month thirteen.

What does a Wix site really cost per year?

Add four things: the plan times twelve, every app subscription, the domain and email after year one, and payment fees on everything you sell. For a small Canadian business with a store and a few apps, the plan is usually the smallest of the four. That total is the number worth comparing.
