Apple Business Connect and Bing Places in Canada: the listings after Google

What is Apple Business Connect, and does it work in Canada?

Apple Business Connect is now part of Apple Business, a free Apple service that launched April 14, 2026 and works in Canada. You claim your location, verify your business, and your details show in Apple Maps, Siri and other Apple apps. Bing Places for Business is Microsoft’s free version of the same idea.

Apple folded Business Connect into Apple Business when it launched. Apple says existing Business Connect data moved across automatically, so an owner who claimed a place card in 2024 keeps it. The old name is still what most people search for, which is why this guide uses both.

Apple also announced ads in Maps for the U.S. and Canada, starting summer 2026. When I read Apple’s Canada feature list on September 23, 2026, Maps ads were not in it. The free listing is available now.

How do Apple Business and Bing Places compare?

Both are free, and both control what a customer sees about you on a map that is not Google’s. Apple asks more to prove the business is yours. Bing can copy your Google profile in a few steps. Here is how they line up in September 2026.

How do you set up Apple Business in Canada?

Sign up, verify the organization, then add and verify each location. Apple checks the business first and the place second. Set aside an hour, and have your business licence or a recent utility bill ready as a scan.

1. 01Sign up for Apple Business. Enter your organization’s name, address and website, plus your own name and phone number. Apple says the website can speed up verification.
2. 02Verify the organization. Apple asks for two methods within 60 days. The options are a D-U-N-S number, a DNS TXT record on your domain, or official documents such as a business licence, tax permit, lease or utility bill.
3. 03Add your location under Brands, then Locations. Enter the address and drag the map pin onto the right building if it lands on the wrong one.
4. 04Fill in the display name, category, phone number, website and hours. These are the details a customer sees on the place card.
5. 05If your business is already on Apple Maps, choose phone verification. Apple calls the number it has on record, and you enter the four-digit code.
6. 06Add photos and check the place card on an iPhone, in Maps, the way a customer would find it.

The DNS option is worth a look. It proves you control your website’s domain, and only the domain’s owner can add the record. If a past web designer still holds your domain, that step stalls. Who owns your website shows how to check before you start.

If someone else already manages your location, Apple Business has a transfer request. You explain why and attach proof, such as a business licence or utility bill. Apple says that review can take up to five business days.

What does Bing Places feed?

Bing Places feeds Bing search results and Bing Maps, by Microsoft’s own description. Microsoft also says it is investing in deeper integrations between the new Bing Places, launched in October 2025, and Copilot, its AI assistant. That is the only assistant a vendor ties to Bing Places in a source I could read.

You will see other claims online about which AI tools read Bing. I leave them out here, because the companies behind those tools do not state it on pages I could check. What holds everywhere is simpler. An assistant can only repeat what it can find, and a claimed, accurate listing gives it the right details. How do you set up Bing Places for Business?

Start at bing.com/forbusiness. If your Google Business Profile is already set up, import it, check the details, and verify. If not, add the business by hand. Microsoft describes the platform as free.

1. 01Go to bing.com/forbusiness and sign in.
2. 02Import your Google Business Profile if you have one. Microsoft improved this import in October 2025 and says it is faster and more reliable.
3. 03If you have no Google profile, or the import misses you, add the business by hand.
4. 04Verify the listing. Bing shows the verification methods it can offer your business on screen.
5. 05Check the name, address, phone, hours, categories and photos against your Google profile before you publish.

Claim the listing before a stranger’s edit or an old directory writes it for you.

How do you keep Google, Apple and Bing matching?

Treat your Google Business Profile as the master copy, then copy it into Apple and Bing word for word. When anything changes, update all three the same day. A customer who sees two different phone numbers does not know which one works.

• The business name, spelled the same way everywhere, with no towns or keywords stuffed in.
• The same phone number, and one that someone answers.
• The same street address, or the address hidden on all of them if customers never visit.
• The same hours, including holiday and seasonal hours.
• The same website address, pointing at your home page or the right location page.

Google remains the listing most local searches land on.
